Most formalwear shops do one thing. This one does three. Boyd’s Boutique sells prom dresses outright, rents formalwear for pageants, photo shoots and homecoming, and rents tuxedos as a Jim’s Formal Wear affiliate. In a town of 910 people, that combination is the whole point: one stop on one afternoon covers the gown, the rental for the pageant two weekends later, and the tux for whoever is standing next to her in the pictures.
The address is Suite B at 41263 Highway 75, near the Guice Street intersection. Highway 75 is the spine of Sand Mountain in this corner of DeKalb County — four lanes through Albertville to the south, four lanes again at Fyffe to the north, and a narrower two-lane stretch winding along the mountainside in between. Geraldine sits on that middle stretch at about 1,145 feet of elevation. Coming from I-59, the route the town itself publishes is Exit 218 at Fort Payne, Highway 35 west to Rainsville, then 75 south.
The schools this store sits between
Geraldine High School is a Pre-K through 12 campus at 13011 Highway 227, one of fourteen in the DeKalb County school system, and its teams are the Bulldogs. It is not the only school within an easy drive. U.S. News’ proximity list for the Geraldine campus puts Crossville about five miles out, Asbury (Albertville address) about eight, Fyffe about nine, Collinsville about ten, and Macedonia at Section about eleven. That is five or six separate prom crowds inside a twelve-mile radius, all of them small enough that a repeated dress gets noticed. It is worth asking the store to check who has already bought which style before you commit.
What’s on the racks
Two prom labels are confirmed here: Amarra and Tiffany Designs. Both list Boyd’s on their own official retailer locators, so the store is buying current-season stock rather than reselling. Amarra’s retailer page notes its prom styles are most commonly cut from size 00 to 24 and advises calling the shop with a style number to find out what is actually on the floor in your size and color — sound advice for any single-location boutique, where the website inventory and the rack are not the same thing.

Boyd’s posts hour changes week by week on Facebook — one recent week ran a Wednesday window of 3 to 7 p.m. That is normal for a small shop with real seasons, but it means a drive over on an assumption is a bad bet. The number is (256) 738-8777.
If you are making the trip from off the mountain, High Falls Park is about fifteen minutes from town, with a 35-foot waterfall that spreads roughly 300 feet across when the water is up. In town, Taylor’s Emporium — the old Horton and Bryant general store — is on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage, and the town park on County Road 52 east has four ball fields, a splash pad and a walking track.
