At Monica’s in Pocahontas, prom is by appointment and the pageant gowns are rentals

Monica's runs prom, pageant rentals and bridal out of Pocahontas by appointment only, 39 miles north of Jonesboro and 32 south of Doniphan, Missouri.

One phone number, (870) 393-6737, covers three separate operations, and none of them is a walk-in store. The shop’s own contact page currently lists prom at 2421 Old County Road in Pocahontas, Monica’s Glitzy Pageant Rentals at 1501 US 67 South, and the bridal side at 2727 S. Caraway Road in Jonesboro, with a January 2026 opening posted for that address. Directory listings across the internet — including the one that brought you here — still show the US 67 South address for prom. Call and confirm which door to walk through before you drive.

The hours are the other thing to plan around. Prom is by appointment only. Pageant is by appointment only. Bridal takes appointments Tuesday through Friday and opens Saturdays from 10 to 3. The site adds one line that matters if you are coming from Corning or across the Missouri line after school lets out: after-hours prom appointments are available with advance notice.

Renting instead of buying

A dedicated pageant rental arm is not something most formalwear shops bother with, and it fits the calendar here. The Randolph County Fair pageant is open to county residents from birth through age 23; Miss and Junior Miss winners have the option to compete at the state fair pageant in Little Rock, and reigning queens are asked to ride in the fair parade and at the rodeo. A girl working that circuit may need a different gown every season for years. Renting is how a lot of families make that arithmetic work.

The drive

Pocahontas is the seat of Randolph County, a town of roughly 6,600 on the Black River, sitting where the last of the Ozark foothills meet the western edge of the Delta. It is about 39 miles and fifty minutes from Jonesboro, and about 32 miles from Doniphan, Missouri — close enough to the midpoint that drivers from both directions spend the same three-quarters of an hour getting here. The county has two school districts, Pocahontas with around 2,000 students PK–12 and Maynard, whose high school enrolls about 250 across grades 7–12. US 67 through town is signed as Future I-57; ArDOT’s selected alignment crosses the Black River east of Pocahontas and runs northeast toward Corning and the state line. The store has also worked the bridal expo up in West Plains, Missouri, which tells you where it thinks its customers are.

Labels on the rack

Monica’s appears on the official retailer locators for Alyce Paris, Dave & Johnny, Jovani and Tiffany Designs. Individual Jovani and Dave & Johnny prom styles list on the shop’s own site in the $400 to $600 range, with pageant gowns running higher. Two cautions on the web catalog: the product pages state plainly that not every dress shown is stocked in store, and the site has advertised half off in-stock prom dresses, which is a different pool of gowns than what you see browsing online. Ask what is actually on the floor in your size when you book.

For other shops elsewhere in Arkansas, start with the state directory.
