Glitz & Glamour Prom and Pageant puts its floor online before anyone sets foot on Redmond Circle. The shop's website lists somewhere around 900 items, from long gowns and short homecoming dresses to children's pageant styles, shoes and tux accessories, each with a style number and a price. For a Rome junior trying to narrow things down before a Saturday visit, that is a gift. You can walk in already knowing which three dresses you want to try.

The long-dress side alone runs well past 400 listings, with online prices from clearance pieces under $100 up to around $1,200 for the showstopper gowns. Short dresses top out in the mid-$600s. There is a dedicated plus-size section, too.

The labels are the big prom names, though some fill far more of the catalog than others.
