813 E Ascension St sits in downtown Gonzales, east of Burnside Avenue and roughly half a mile north of East Ascension High’s campus on E Worthy Street. That is a walkable distance for a school that enrolled 2,157 students in 2023–24. It also puts Virgo Boutique near the middle of a parish that now runs five separate public high school proms.
Ascension is one of the growing corners of Louisiana — the parish population was estimated at 135,105 as of July 2025, up from 126,499 in the 2020 census, with about 13,800 of those people inside Gonzales city limits. The high schools that feed a gown shop here:

Formal season starts before prom
In this part of the state the first gown a teenager needs is often not a prom dress. Mardi Gras ball season comes first: the Krewe of Ascension Mambo held its 2026 ball on January 31 and rolled its parade through Gonzales the following Saturday, from Irma Boulevard by city hall down Cornerview and Burnside to the Highway 30 intersection. The boutique’s own announcements have put Mardi Gras and prom gowns on the floor together, which means the early-January shopper and the April shopper are working from the same shipment. Baton Rouge is 24 miles up I-10, and the same operation runs a second Virgo location on Perkins Road East there, though the verified prom brands are attached to the Gonzales address. Coming in off the interstate, the Tanger Outlets and Cabela’s corridor is a few minutes from downtown — shoes and alterations errands can be folded into the same drive.
