Kate, the owner of Amari Prom, has run her store from five different addresses since 2002, and each move followed the customers. Franklin came first. Medway was next, then two different Burlington addresses, and finally a storefront on Great Road in Littleton. In an interview published on the store's About page, she says the 495 access is what sold her on the town: it pulls shoppers from all the surrounding towns, and last season brought girls in from Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island because, in her words, there just aren't that many prom dress shops up north.

She also describes the Littleton store as quaint on purpose. Not a superstore. The point is a room you can actually navigate, with a stylist who stays with you through the appointment, and a buyer (Kate herself) who picks every line on the floor.

That buying is the part of the job she enjoys most. She talks about watching whether the styles the sales reps push as best-sellers really sell by the end of the season, and about the fun of seeing which girl ends up in which dress after a full appointment together. For the season covered in that interview, her favorite label was La Femme, which she also named as the line the store sold the most of.

A season that opens in November

Amari keeps a prom calendar, not a retail one. The store closes for in-store shopping over the summer, and its contact page currently lists a reopening date of November 15, 2026, with regular hours resuming then for the prom 2027 season. During the closed stretch, the owner answers email and the store's texting line stays open. Online orders keep shipping, and shipping on dresses is free.

For families in the towns along 495, that timing shapes the whole search. Most proms around here land in May and early June, so the in-store window runs from mid-November through spring. A December or January visit sees the fullest racks. By April, a style that sold well may be down to a few sizes.

Appointments are booked through the store's website once the season opens. Kate's interview makes the case for them without saying so directly: the payoff she describes comes from working with one shopper from the first dress to the last.
