Amari runs on a prom calendar, not a retail one. The store at 256 Great Road shuts down in-store shopping for the summer and reopens for the next season on November 15; during the closed stretch the only way to reach the owner is email. In Massachusetts, where most proms fall in May and early June, that puts the whole buying window between mid-November and late spring. A July browse is not an option here.
The address is Colonial Court, a small retail strip on Great Road — Route 119 — next to Donelan’s Supermarket and close to I-495. The interchange is Exit 80, signed for Groton and Acton; the town’s own directions page still calls it Exit 31, the number it carried before the statewide renumbering.
That highway ramp is the reason the shop is in Littleton at all. Owner Kate has moved Amari several times since 2002 — Franklin first, then Medway, then two different Burlington addresses — and in a Q&A on the store’s own site she says the 495 access is what pulls in the surrounding towns, with the old Burlington and Billerica customers still making the trip. She also says that last season brought in shoppers from Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island, because “there just aren’t that many prom dress shops up north.” She describes the Littleton store as small on purpose, the opposite of a prom superstore.
The schools in range
Littleton High School is on King Street, the turn off Great Road at the Common. Westford Academy on Patten Road and Nashoba Valley Technical High School on Littleton Road in Westford are both short drives, and Acton-Boxborough Regional, Groton-Dunstable Regional, Ayer Shirley Regional, Nashoba Regional, Chelmsford High and The Bromfield School in Harvard all sit inside a weeknight round trip. For families further out on the 495 arc, the nearest other Massachusetts stores on Amarra’s retailer list are in Worcester and Peabody.
How the appointments work
Everything is booked through the store’s site, in four tiers:
- Basic appointment, one hour, free
- VIP Room, one hour, $15 — private room, two bottled waters, a $10 jewelry gift card and photo time on a carpeted runway
- VIP Lounge, from $30; the $25 deluxe upgrade adds a nut-free charcuterie board
- Pick-up appointment, up to 30 minutes, free

What is on the floor
Verified brands are Alyce Paris, Amarra, Clarisse, Colette, Dave & Johnny, Faviana, Jessica Angel, Jovani and La Femme. Kate named La Femme her favorite line and the best-selling one of the season in that same interview. The site advertises sizes 000 through 24 and keeps a separate Curve Collection, and the house-buy group, Amari Favorites, starts at $199; listed styles online run from that $199 mark up past $500 for the designer labels.
One thing to know before buying
All sales are final, in store and online — no returns, no exchanges. The store’s policy page puts the sizing decision on the customer and asks shoppers to check the size chart or text for a size reference before ordering. On an in-store purchase the dress can be inspected before money changes hands, which is an argument for making the drive rather than ordering blind.
