Castle Couture describes its Manalapan showroom as one of New Jersey's largest prom dress destinations, and the claim comes with a long list behind it. The prom and special occasion side alone carries more than fifteen designer lines. The salon also runs bridal, evening wear, accessories, alterations and a tuxedo rental partnership, so a gown and the date's tux can both be arranged through Castle Couture.

It is on the southbound side of Route 9 in Manalapan, the long commercial stretch between Freehold and Old Bridge that most western Monmouth County families drive every week anyway. Manalapan High School students have the shortest trip. Old Bridge High School and Monroe Township High School, just over the Middlesex County line, sit to the north.

Rachel Allan covers the quinceañera side. The About page says the Prom and Pageant department holds the store's largest and most exciting collection, with thousands of gowns and styles that arrive "right off the runway," and that it serves pageant, sweet 16, bar and bat mitzvah shoppers along with prom.

According to its site, the store has been honored to style nationally and internationally known celebrities, political figures and socialites for red carpet and private events.

The 2026 prom collection on the site gives a sense of the range: sleek jersey knit V-necks at one end, sparkling sequin ball gowns at the other, and fitted beaded styles in between. Sweet 16 and quinceañera each have their own pages and their own gowns, so a family shopping two milestones in the same year can cover both in one place. The prom page also points shoppers to the showroom floor itself for an expanded selection and the latest designs, so treat the website as a preview rather than the full stock.

Prom shopping at Castle Couture is appointment only, with a parent or guardian over 21 in the room. The store spells out both rules in the footer of its website. A booking holds a stylist for you; walk-in browsing is limited to the accessories counter on the main level, which the store recently expanded so veils, headpieces and jewelry can be shopped without an appointment.

What else the building handles

The date's tux runs through a partnership with Generation Tux, and nearly all of it happens online.

The rest of the building covers fittings, finishing touches and a gown for a parent.

Alterations

On site, by independent seamstresses who work out of the store and quote their own prices. All prom and special occasion gowns must be paid in full before the first fitting is scheduled, and a rush fee can apply when work has to be done in under 60 days.

Accessories

Headpieces, jewelry, sashes and straps on the main level, no appointment needed.

Evening and mother of the bride

A separate department with Chic & Holland, Kelly Chase, Jovani Evenings, Terani Couture and others, useful if a parent needs a gown for the same season.

The newest room in the building, the Crown Room, is a private couture suite for brides, and the bridal salon carries more than 30 bridal collections. Prom shoppers will mostly see it in passing.

A word on timing and policy. All in-store purchases at Castle Couture are final sale, so the parent who has to sign off should be at the appointment, as the store already requires. Online orders follow a separate policy, with a 72-hour return window on items marked in stock and a restocking fee. Given the alterations calendar, the safest plan is to buy by early spring and book the first fitting well ahead of the dance.
