Route 9 through Middlesex and Monmouth counties holds more designer prom stores than some entire states. The practical result: in this part of central New Jersey, a family can see three or four real gown shops in one afternoon without leaving a single road. Start here and work south, or start in Freehold and end here. Note that the address is on the southbound side of a divided highway, so anyone driving up from Marlboro or Freehold passes it on the far side and has to turn around.

Prom is only part of the year here
The listed specialties run to Sweet 16, bar and bat mitzvah, quinceañera, pageant, bridesmaids, cocktail and mother of the bride or groom. The store’s own site names Marlboro, Manalapan and Freehold alongside Old Bridge as the towns it serves. In a shop working that many occasions at once, a Saturday afternoon can mean a junior trying on Jovani two racks away from a mother-of-the-bride fitting.

Reviews split along a clear line. The good ones name individual consultants by first name and describe leaving with a dress after four or five tries. The bad ones cluster on walk-ins arriving in the last hour and feeling rushed, and on limits to how many gowns can go into a fitting room at once. Book early in the day and the common complaint mostly stops applying.
The schools behind the counter traffic
Old Bridge Township is the third-largest municipality in Middlesex County, around 70,000 people, and it has one public high school. Old Bridge High School on Route 516 enrolled 2,659 students in 2024–25, which makes for one very large senior prom out of a single building. Sayreville War Memorial, at roughly 1,770 students, and Matawan Regional, at about 1,150, are both short drives away. With classes that size, it is worth asking at the counter whether a style has already gone to someone at your school.
