Before there was a storefront, there was a sewing table in a house in Oklahoma City. The owners tell it this way on their about page: for close to ten years before the shop opened in 1987, they did alterations from home, and upscale boutiques around the city started sending their own customers over. Demand grew until a retail store made sense. The sewing never stopped being the center of things, and the store says the same seamstresses who built that early reputation are still doing the fittings today.

A prom gown bought off this floor gets its hem, straps and bodice work done in the same building, by people who have been fitting formalwear since before most of today's parents went to their own proms. The order of priorities follows from that history. This business was a fitting room first, and the racks of gowns grew up around it, one referral at a time, until the referrals needed a storefront of their own.

The shop sits in the Western View Shopping Center on South Western Avenue, a little north of the I-240 interchange. That puts the store within reach of U.S. Grant High School and Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City Public Schools, and of Westmoore, Southmoore and Moore high schools in the Moore district, which together send a lot of juniors and seniors shopping every spring. Mustang, Newcastle and Norman are within range as well, which widens the pull to families across central Oklahoma.
