Oh My Dress has served Corpus Christi since 2019, from a storefront at 4821 Shopping Way. It sells bridal and quinceañera gowns too. But the prom page is where the shop sounds most excited, and it is where the long buying trip and the wide size run are spelled out.
Two Laredo natives who opened as proms disappeared
The owners are Carla Reyes and Gaurav Jaggi, a couple from Laredo, profiled by KRIS 6 News in January 2022. The shop dates itself to 2019, and KRIS 6 reported that the pair opened the doors in 2020. Bad timing. "It was tough at first, because there was nothing," Jaggi told the station. "No Proms. No Quinceañeras. No weddings."

Jaggi said the two of them "felt like it needed something, some spice to the town." Reyes explained the selection side of the idea in that same KRIS 6 piece, and it still reads like the store's mission statement.
In a big box store, they just have the same styles for them. And we wanted something different, something beautiful, so that they can feel beautiful in the dress.
Jaggi kept his version shorter. "Why travel when you can shop local?" Shopping Way is an easy drive from the city's high schools and from Flour Bluff, Calallen, Portland and Robstown. It is one of the Coastal Bend stops in our guide to prom stores across Texas.
What 1,017 miles of buying put on the prom rack
The prom page lists a short run of styles by designer and style number. They come from Jovani, Ellie Wilde, Rachel Allan, Morilee, Colette, Terani, Colors and Amelia Grace. Jovani has the most. The designer page adds logos for Sydney's Closet, J'adore and 2Cute, so the label list runs a little wider than the prom page.
The 1,017 miles, the prom page says, were traveled "to bring the hottest fashion styles for your prom."
Size is the other headline. The store advertises prom sizes 0 to 32, and the filter on its site also sorts by S through 6XL.

A prom dress you price in person
Don't go looking for a price tag online. Each gown page shows photos, the designer and the style number, and nothing more. The homepage also says many of its hand-selected styles are only available in store. So the site works as a shortlist. Write down the style numbers you like and bring them in.
Shopping appointments are booked online and last 45 minutes. The site says walk-ins are welcome for evening gowns but gives no separate rule for prom, so a booked slot is the safer plan.
Decide carefully once you are in the fitting room. All sales are final and no refunds are given. Exchanges carry a 20% restocking fee, and a special order can't be cancelled once it is placed.
Hems, tuxedos, shoes and jewelry on Shopping Way
Experienced seamstresses handle hems, bust adjustments, and taking in or letting out. The service covers formal gowns bought at Oh My Dress or anywhere else. "All gowns are welcome!" the services page says. Fittings are booked by phone or in person, not through the online calendar.
Dates get dressed here too. Suits and tuxedos are available to rent or buy, for proms as well as weddings, quinceañeras and galas, and the staff will help coordinate the look from head to toe.

The accessories came from listening. The owners told KRIS 6 they took customer advice and brought in shoes and jewelry. "It's been a hit so far," one of them said, and those customers come back. Brides shop here as well, but for our readers the prom racks are the reason to go.

Can I see prom prices on the Oh My Dress website?
No. The gown pages show the designer and style number but no price. Bring your style numbers to Shopping Way and ask there.
When is Oh My Dress open?
Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday.
Will they alter a prom dress I bought somewhere else?
Yes. Gowns from other stores are accepted for alterations. Call the store or stop in to set up the fitting.
