Treasure Island occupies 198 Main Street, near the upper end of the hill that runs from Church Circle down to City Dock, a few doors below the 1821 Old City Hall at 211–213 Main. Its own About page states plainly that the shop has been selling prom and evening dresses since 1992. The important thing to know before driving into the historic district of Maryland’s capital is that it no longer takes browsers: a banner sits across every page of the store’s catalog saying it is open by appointment only, with 410-267-1500 as the number to book. The site lists appointment windows Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
That policy shapes the trip. This is not a stop you fold into a Saturday walk down Main Street with an ice cream in hand. You call, you get a time, and you plan parking around it. On-street spaces in the historic district are two-hour paid parking through the Parkmobile app, which is thin cover for a fitting. The Mills Hillman Garage is the practical answer — it has entrances at 150 Gorman Street, just off Main, and 160 Duke of Gloucester Street, and the city rebuilt it to let you drive in without pulling a ticket.
The labels on the racks
Six brands list this store on their official retailer locators: Jovani, Terani, Amarra, Alyce Paris, Jasz and Jessica Angel. That is a designer-prom lineup rather than a department-store one, which means shopping by style number works here. The store’s own catalog is built for exactly that — it has a search by style or keyword, a size filter running from 000 through 32 plus W sizes, and a toggle to show only what is in store stock. Worth using before you call, so the conversation starts with specific styles. Featured Jovani prom styles on the store’s homepage this season were listed between $599 and $879, and there is a separate sale and clearance section.
Prom is the anchor, but not the whole business. The catalog also runs homecoming, sweet sixteen, quinceañera, bar and bat mitzvah, pageant, mother-of-the-bride, bridal and bridesmaid dresses, plus shoes. The store menu links to a tuxedo ordering site, and its business listings describe tuxedo rentals for proms and weddings. The About page notes that brides, bridesmaids and mothers are seen by appointment as well.

Anne Arundel County’s public high schools all sit inside a reasonable drive of downtown:

- Broadneck High on Green Holly Drive, across the Severn River bridge on Route 50
- South River High on Central Avenue East in Edgewater, over the South River
- Severna Park, Arundel, Crofton, Chesapeake, Old Mill, Glen Burnie, Meade, Northeast and Southern, spread north and west through the county
Formal season in this town also runs on a calendar most places do not have. The Naval Academy’s Ring Dance for second-class midshipmen has been held during Commissioning Week since 1925, in Dahlgren Hall, and Commissioning Week has fallen in May since the academic calendar moved in 1979. The Yard begins a few hundred yards downhill from Main Street, past City Dock.
When you call, have style numbers ready and ask two questions: whether that dress is on the floor in your size, and how long a special order would take if it is not. The store advertised its 2026 prom stock in winter, so the floor turns over well ahead of spring.
