Clarisse and Jovani in Douglas County: Lauren’s Bridal and Formal, inside the Ava flower shop

Lauren's Bridal shares a Springfield Road storefront with Impressions Floral in Ava, stocking Clarisse and Jovani gowns you carry out the same day.

The prom dress and the corsage come from the same address. Lauren’s Bridal and Formal Wear moved into 1113 Springfield Road, Suite B in Ava, the storefront occupied by Impressions Floral and Gifts, and announced the Ava opening on its own Facebook page as being “officially in Ava @ Impressions Floral.” That is an unusual arrangement, and for a town of 2,894 people it is also the reason a gown from Clarisse or Jovani is available in Douglas County at all.

Ava is the county seat and the only incorporated city in the county, sitting where Missouri Routes 5, 14 and 76 come together in the southern Ozarks. Mansfield is 13 miles north, Gainesville roughly 30 miles south. Springfield, the nearest city with mall-scale formalwear, is about 60 road miles and an hour and fifteen minutes out. A dress trip there is most of a Saturday, plus fuel, plus lunch. A dress trip to Springfield Road is not.

Off the rack, which changes the timeline

The shop describes itself as an off-the-rack bridal and formal salon, family owned and operated, also handling tuxedos. Off the rack means what it says: gowns are sold from the floor and go home with the person buying them, rather than being ordered in your size and shipped weeks later. For prom that removes the part of the process that goes wrong most often — the special order that arrives late, or arrives and still needs three weeks of alterations. The trade-off is real and worth naming: what is on the rack is what exists, in the sizes it exists in. If a dress fits and you like it, buying it that day is the whole strategy. Coming back in two weeks to think it over is not.

Who shops here

Ava High School, home of the Bears, enrolls just under 400 students in grades 9 through 12 on North Spring Street, a few minutes from the shop. The dance itself has often been a drive: the Douglas County Herald reported the 2018 Ava Jr./Sr. prom was held on April 7 at the Grey Rocks event center in Springfield. Mansfield High School is the closest high school to Ava, and the small districts scattered across Douglas, Wright and Ozark counties send students the same direction for a dress. Early-April proms in this part of Missouri mean the shopping conversation starts well before spring break, and with off-the-rack stock, earlier visits see fuller racks.

Practical notes

  • The address is a suite inside the florist’s building, not a standalone bridal storefront on the square. Look for Impressions Floral.
  • Lauren’s carries its own phone line, (417) 840-0053, separate from the flower shop’s number.
  • Some review aggregators still list a South Spurlock Street address in Ava for the store. Call before driving in from Gainesville or Willow Springs and confirm which door.
  • Lauren’s also operates a location in Buffalo, Missouri, which opened in 2023 — useful to know if you are north of Springfield rather than south of it.

Verified brand carriage here is Clarisse and Jovani, both of which list this store on their official retailer locators. Both are prom-and-evening houses rather than bridal-only labels, which fits a shop that has to cover a wedding, a prom, and a Fox Trot show banquet out of the same floor space.
