The listing reads Gilma Boutique. The Facebook page, the Instagram account and the families who shop there call it Gilma’s Bodas y Quinceañeras Boutique. It sits at 4321 Lafayette Rd, Suite B, on the northwest side of Indianapolis, and quinceañera gowns are the center of the business. Prom runs alongside them, on the same floor, in the same season.
Owner Sidia Flores named the shop for her mother. She told WTHR that her customers drive in from Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, and that she had been open 25 years at the time of that story. She also described a habit that is unusual in Indiana formalwear and useful well beyond quinceañeras: she writes down who bought which dress and keeps the record in a binder, so two girls do not turn up at the same party in the same gown. If prom is the reason for the trip, the log only works if the person at the counter knows which school and which date is being shopped.
What’s on the racks
Alyce Paris and Clarisse both list this store on their official retailer locators. Those are prom and social-occasion labels, which is the clearest signal that the prom side of the shop is real and not incidental — a Yelp reviewer who came in hunting a prom dress with her daughter described it as primarily a quinceañera store where the gowns work for prom as well.
The store’s own page, written in Spanish and English, lists bridal, bridesmaids, prom, tuxedos and chambelán suit rentals, shoes, crowns, accessories and invitations. It self-reports a $$ price range. Concrete numbers are scarce, but a few are on the record from the WTHR segment: the high-detail quinceañera ballgowns ran $800 to $3,500, the two miniature doll dresses on the floor that day were $165 and $225, and an elaborate gown can take six months to sort out. Nobody has published a prom price range, so ask on the phone before making the drive.
The trip
This stretch of Lafayette Road is the International Marketplace, the district formerly known by the name of its mall. Lafayette Square Mall has been almost entirely closed since August 2022 and its owner, Sojos Capital, has been working through a long redevelopment; the retail that matters here now is in the strip plazas along the road, roughly two dozen of them, filled with businesses run by immigrant owners. A shopping day built around this store is a Lafayette Road day, not a mall day.
Nearest schools: Pike High School, at 5401 W 71st Street, is the only high school in MSD Pike Township and enrolled about 3,200 students in 2023–24, and a quarter of the township’s students are Hispanic or Latino. Ben Davis, in Wayne Township on Girls School Road, is a short run southwest. Both are close enough that a Saturday fitting does not require planning a whole afternoon.
One caution: third-party sites disagree about the hours, and at least one shopper reported arriving mid-afternoon on a Saturday to a closed sign. Call (317) 490-4317 first. Reviewers who did get in single out Flores and the shop’s tailor.
