Samantha’s Boutique describes itself in seven words: a boutique for quinceañeras, weddings, prom and tuxedos. In a city of roughly five thousand people wedged between a refinery and the Illinois state line, that is not a marketing angle. Downtown Whiting is two blocks off the boulevard on 119th Street, which is where the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce has staged Pierogi Fest each July since 1994, and the lakefront at Whihala Beach is at the north end of town. A fitting appointment and lunch on 119th fit comfortably in the same afternoon.
