Most of what moves through 3698 North Federal Highway is wedding gowns, priced by the salon’s own published ranges from $2,000 to $20,000. Prom and evening is a separate department in the same showroom, and it carries Jovani, Terani and Tarik Ediz. Knowing that before you go changes what you should expect from the trip.
Owner Jan Patterson took over the salon in 2005 and added eveningwear roughly a decade in. Boca Raton Magazine has covered her as an eveningwear buyer as much as a bridal one, naming Tarik Ediz alongside Amsale and Peter Langner among the labels she brought in for clients dressing for galas, fundraisers and bar mitzvahs. A prom shopper here is shopping that same buy. The store’s own designer pages put Jovani evening gowns at $600 to $1,500 and Terani at $400 to $2,700, and the site keeps a separate evening sale category. The company also runs a second salon in Coral Springs; the evening and prom designers are listed at the Boca Raton store, the northern of its two Florida locations.
What that means in practice: this is not a prom warehouse. Boca has retailers that stock hundreds of prom dresses and sell nothing else. Patterson has said in interviews that she buys gowns that don’t look like everybody else’s, which is the point if you are worried about a repeat in the grand march, and a limitation if you want to try on forty dresses in one afternoon.
Before you drive over
- It runs on appointments. The prom and evening pages on the store’s site route to a booking form, not a shopping cart.
- Those pages display designers’ full collections, not floor stock — the site says so outright and tells you to contact the store for availability. Call (561) 447-6541 about the specific dress before you make the drive for it.
- Alterations are done in house, but only on dresses bought from the store, with a written estimate given up front.
- Tuesday and Thursday are the late days, open until 7. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday close at 5, and Sunday is closed. If you need an after-school appointment that isn’t rushed, it’s Tuesday or Thursday.
Where it is, and who it’s close to
The building sits where Spanish River Boulevard meets Federal Highway, visible from that intersection, about two miles from Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The Spanish River Boulevard ramps off I-95 and the FAU campus are each roughly a mile and a half west, which makes FAU High and A.D. Henderson, both on the university campus, the closest schools to the door.
From there it fans out: Boca Raton Community High and its Bobcats a few miles south toward downtown, Spanish River’s Sharks west on Jog Road, Olympic Heights and West Boca Raton High farther west past the Turnpike, Atlantic Community High up in Delray Beach, and Deerfield Beach High just over the Broward line. Spanish River lists Boca High and Olympic Heights as its rivals, so around here the question of who else has your dress crosses school lines.
One honest limit: nothing in the store’s published evening pricing starts below $400. If the budget is under that, this is the wrong stop, and the dedicated prom shops closer to downtown Boca are the better use of a Saturday.
