This is a bridal store first. The shop describes itself as a bridal sales and alterations boutique, stocking wedding gowns, mothers’ dresses and special-occasion gowns, and most of its reviews come from brides and mothers of brides rather than seniors. What puts it on a prom list is the designer side of the rack: it appears on the official retailer locators for Jovani, Terani, MNM Couture, Jasz and Colette. Those are evening-wear houses, not junior-department labels, so expect fitted couture cuts and a shopping process that runs on appointments rather than rack-diving.
The store got here in stages. It opened in 2017 as a small side-street shop, moved to a storefront on Sewickley’s main street in 2018, and in 2022 the owner, Skye, relocated to a roughly 4,000-square-foot space at McCandless Crossing. One practical consequence: several wedding directories still file the business under Sewickley. If a listing sends you toward the Ohio River, ignore it. The address is 790 Providence Boulevard.
Where that actually puts you
Providence Boulevard is the spine of McCandless Crossing, an open-air center in McCandless, about ten miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, anchored by Lowe’s, Dick’s, HomeGoods and Old Navy. The mailing address says Pittsburgh and the ZIP is 15237, which covers Ross Township as well, but locals in this part of western Pennsylvania will tell you to meet them at McCandless Crossing.
North Allegheny Intermediate, which holds the district’s ninth and tenth graders, sits on Cumberland Road less than a mile away; the district’s senior high is up in Wexford. Hampton, Pine-Richland, Shaler Area and North Hills students are all within a normal North Hills drive. Ross Park Mall, off McKnight Road, is a few minutes south, which matters if you want to try shoes, jewelry and a gown on the same afternoon — this shop is a single boutique in a shopping center, not a one-stop prom floor.
Before you drive up
- Book ahead. The shop takes appointments online or by phone and text at (412) 770-5086, and its site notes Sunday visits are by appointment only.
- Yelp lists it closed Mondays, with later hours Tuesday and Thursday to 7 p.m. Call to confirm; a small shop’s hours shift with wedding season.
- Alterations are done in house, which is the real argument for buying a Jovani or Terani gown here instead of online. These dresses are cut for length and rarely fit off the hanger.
- Ask what is in stock versus what has to be ordered, and ask about trunk shows — the shop runs them for its bridal and special-occasion designers, and that is when selection is widest.
Fair warning on fit for prom shoppers: the room is set up for bridal appointments, and reviews describe a stylist working with you one-on-one. If your daughter wants to browse two hundred dresses unattended with three friends, this is not that store. If she has found a specific designer style online and wants it fitted properly, it is.
