The doors here stay open until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to the store’s own posted hours. That matters more than it sounds. A junior with practice until six can still get through two or three gowns on a Tuesday, and a parent driving in from a job in east Dallas County does not have to burn a Saturday morning on it.
The shop sits in the multi-suite retail building at 3501 Towne Crossing Boulevard, near the corner of Towne Crossing and North Town East, behind the Jack in the Box — the same building as the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and a Monarch Dental office. The store lists itself in Suite 205. Across the way on Gus Thomasson is the Kroger-anchored Towne Crossing Shopping Center, and Town East Mall is a few minutes off at the I-635 and U.S. 80 interchange, so a dress trip folds easily into errands you were already running.
What’s on the floor
For prom, Florencia’s appears on the official retailer locators for Clarisse, Colette and Dave & Johnny. The store’s own site adds Rachel Allan, plus bridal from Morilee, Lore and Clarisse.
The quinceañera side is stocked separately and deeply: Mary’s, Morilee, Princessa by Ariana Vara and Ragazza. That combination is the real character of the place. Mesquite is a city of roughly 149,000 — the 22nd largest in Texas — and about 44 percent of residents are Hispanic. A shop here that carries four quince labels alongside three prom labels is not hedging; it is stocked for the actual calendar its customers keep, where a fifteenth birthday in October and a spring prom can land on the same family within a few months. Accessories are on hand too: veils, tiaras, headpieces, jewelry and bouquets.
Tuxedo and suit rental runs through Jim’s Formal Wear, which lists this store as an affiliated location — useful if a date’s coat and the dress need to be matched in one stop. The store also advertises alterations and customization work.
Read this before you order
Florencia’s publishes its terms plainly, and they are worth knowing going in:
- Special-order designer gowns are final sale. Be certain before you sign.
- Orders can be canceled at no charge only before they are processed.
- Claims of damage, irregularity or color inconsistency must be raised within 24 hours of receiving the dress.
- Every designer uses its own size chart. Staff will suggest a size from your measurements, but the size call is ultimately yours.
None of that is unusual for an independent shop that special-orders from designers, but it does mean a February order for an April prom leaves little room to change your mind. Who shops here
Mesquite ISD runs five comprehensive high schools — Mesquite, North Mesquite, West Mesquite, Poteet and John Horn — along with Vroonland Vanguard and Mesquite Academy. Every one of them is a short drive from this corner, which is the whole argument for the store: for a Mesquite family, this is the neighborhood option, not the expedition. Students from Garland, Rowlett, Sunnyvale and Balch Springs are all within the same easy radius on 635 or 80.
