Appling County has one high school. Appling County High, out on Blackshear Highway, enrolled about 1,050 students across grades nine through twelve in 2023–24, and it is the only high school in the district. One school means one prom, one graduation, and a very small pool of girls who will all be photographed in the same gym. Duplicate dresses are a real problem here in a way they are not in a county with four high schools.

US 341 and US 1 cross in Baxley, so anyone driving in from Hazlehurst to the west or Jesup to the east is already on the road that runs past the front door. Note that the second weekend in March, US 341 through town becomes part of Peaches to the Beaches, the yard sale the chamber runs along the Golden Isles Parkway with more than 125 vendors in Baxley alone. That falls right at the front end of prom-shopping season, and the street will not be quick that Friday or Saturday.

Two practical notes. The shop’s own Yelp profile dates the business to 2002, though a directory listing elsewhere gives a different figure, so treat the exact year loosely. And the online hours disagree between sites — one stale listing even shows the store closed, while its Facebook page was posting this spring.
