Most prom shops do one thing or the other. They either sell new gowns from designer accounts, or they resell dresses that have already been to one dance. This one on West Palm Road does both in the same room. The shop describes itself as an upscale prom and homecoming consignment store with accessories, and it also holds authorized retailer accounts with four labels that only sell through approved boutiques: Alyce Paris, Amarra, Ava Presley and Johnathan Kayne. Its Instagram bio puts it simply — new and consigned prom and homecoming dresses, plus new shoes and jewelry.
That combination matters more in a county this size than it would in a metro suburb. Jeff Davis County had 14,779 residents at the 2020 census, and Jeff Davis High School enrolled 846 students in 2023–24. A graduating class that size means last year’s prom dresses are a real supply of inventory, and it also means the girl buying one should ask a question she wouldn’t bother asking in Atlanta: was this gown worn locally, and to which event. Ask it. The staff will know, because in a town of roughly 4,000 people they usually took the dress in themselves.
Why the drive works from three directions
Hazlehurst sits where US 221 crosses US 341, with no interstate anywhere close. That crossroads is the whole reason the trip pencils out for people who don’t live here. Hazlehurst is almost exactly the midpoint between Douglas and Vidalia — about 31 miles and 45 minutes from Douglas by way of US 221, and about 30 miles from Vidalia. Baxley is a short run east on US 341, Lumber City northwest on the same road.
There are other options in that radius, and it is worth knowing what they are before you commit a Saturday: Southern Posh Couture on South Main Street in Baxley, and Dresses & Dreams on Peterson Avenue South in Douglas. Neither is far. What Second Time to Shine adds is the second price track — you can look at a new Ava Presley and a consigned gown in the same visit and decide on the spot which one you are actually paying for.

Call (912) 253-5323 first. The shop’s own website is a single page with a contact form and no inventory on it, so nothing you see online tells you what is hanging on the rack today. New arrivals go up on the store’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok feeds instead, and the shop starts posting homecoming stock in early summer — well before most families in south Georgia start thinking about September dances. If a specific Alyce Paris or Amarra style number is in your head, read it over the phone; the store can tell you whether that dress is on the floor and in what size before you get in the car.
Consignment inventory turns over fast and does not come back. If you find the dress on a Tuesday, do not plan to think about it until the weekend.
